This project is a journey back to my roots and a tribute to the samurai stories that shaped my upbringing in nerd culture and my identity as an illustrator.
In this piece, I sought to explore the narrative tension characteristic of classic manga and chanbara cinema. The technical challenge consisted of balancing the use of action lines (speed lines) to create depth and movement, combined with the application of screen tones for shading, seeking an aesthetic that evokes traditional publications.
For me, drawing a ronin is more than an exercise in style; it is a return to the visual foundation that inspired me to pursue a career in the arts. It is where technical rigor meets a passion for storytelling through the line.
